Former Desktop Engineering magazine Editorial Director, Anthony Lockwood, will moderate an interactive panel discussion entitled "The Relevance of Simulation in Today's Enterprise". The distinguished panelists, including Chad Jackson, vice president of product innovation and engineering at the Aberdeen Group; Ken Amann, director of research for CIMdata; Don Brown, chairman of Collaborative Product Development Associates (CPDA); Dr. Joel Orr, vice president and chief visionary of Cyon Research, will explore key drivers and focus areas of engineering executives who use simulation to facilitate innovation and streamline product development to be globally competitive.
Tony Lockwood has 29 years of technical editing and writing experience, including nearly 13 years at BYTE magazine, the granddaddy of computer geek publishing. An early advocate of digital content development, Tony, in 1984, helped established McGraw-Hill's BIX, the first online news, information, and moderated conferencing system from a major publisher. In 1995, Tony was Founding Editor of Desktop Engineering magazine, a leading CAD/CAM/CAE publication, where he later worked as publisher. He has also created numerous digital publications, editorial supplements, and websites covering computing technologies for design and mechanical engineers. Tony stepped down as Editor in Chief of Desktop Engineering magazine in 2007 to pursue other interests.
Chad Jackson has over ten years of experience in the technology arena with an emphasis on Product Lifecycle Management and Enterprise Content Management solutions. His exposure spans over thousands of companies of all sizes. Mr. Jackson researches and investigates the most pressing business issues confronting product development organizations. His domain knowledge includes unique insights into end user business processes and practices, the application of enterprise software to product development, and the trends and strategies of related software vendors. Prior to joining Aberdeen Group, Chad gained a broad and deep understanding of end user business needs at PTC where he held roles in product management and product development.
Ken Amann has 40 years experience in the development of PLM, PDM, IT architectures, CAE applications, content management systems, and aerospace engineering. He has held senior positions in PLM marketing, development, and consulting, flight dynamics control systems, and is currently the Director of Research for CIMdata. His experience includes evaluating engineering and manufacturing operations, defining and managing PLM strategies and programs, recommending collaborative engineering management solutions, implementing PLM solutions. Mr. Amann has conducted research into and evaluated emerging technologies and applications and defined how emerging technologies may be applied to enable leading edge business solutions.
Donald H. Brown has developed and managed over a dozen collaborative research programs and advisory services targeting the leading edge for the implementation and development of distributed technology and product development, and has produced many incisive and in-depth studies. He has advised senior executives, developers, implementers, and investors from large companies and
start-ups.

Don founded CPDA with the members of D.H. Brown Associates' (DHBA's) PLM group in 2004, upon the sale of DHBA’s IT group. Don founded DHBA in 1986 as a research firm serving institutional investors, suppliers, and users of advanced technology. He previously founded Gartner Group's Small Systems Service.

Dr. Joel Orr is VP and Chief Visionary of Cyon Research Corporation. Internationally recognized as a speaker, author, and consultant in engineering automation, Joel has served a wide range of clients, from Fortune 100 manufacturers to engineering software firms. He was an Autodesk Distinguished Fellow and Bentley Engineering Laureate, and has written eight books.



Jeffrey M. Brennan, a veteran Altair executive who joined the company in 1992, is the Vice President of Altair’s software business line. Mr. Brennan oversees the business operations and product strategy for the company’s popular HyperWorks simulation platform. Through his leadership, Altair’s commercial CAE software business has bettered 25% CAGR over the last six years and has grown an industry diverse client base that today exceeds 3,800 customers.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Brennan was the
business and technical champion for Altair’s structural optimization solutions.
