Altair successfully conducted the 5th edition of the annual India/ASEAN HyperWorks Technology Conference 2009, held between September 14-16, 2009. This was the first time the HTC was held in Pune and like our previous events we received an overwhelming response from our all our users.
This conference is part of Altair’s global conference series, with similar events in Asia and Europe. The theme for this year was focused on Driving Innovation with Enterprise Simulation and the conference papers showcased customer success using Altair’s HyperWorks suite of solutions – OptiStruct, RADIOSS, MotionSolve, HyperForm, HyperMesh and allied technologies - PBS GridWorks and HiQube. The conference was also well represented by the Altair Partner community with Dell, Sun, Microsoft, Metacomp, nVIDIA and Magna Powertrain
The conference witnessed a packed house, with over 800 CAE engineering professionals from all over India and South Asia attended the conference, who got to experience expert industry keynote speaker sessions, Technical paper presentations, Poster sessions, besides exciting Contests and Quiz sessions. The conference received over 78 papers compared to 65 last year.

Altair Speakers covered a wide range of subjects of interest to CAE engineers and decision makers

3 parallel conferences were also organised at HTC09;
- Accelerating Business Productivity using PBS & HiQube (focused on Altair’s HPC and Business Intelligence solutions)
- CAE in Engineering Education
- Leveraging Simulation in Product Development for Defence & Aero/Space
Besides these ~53 customers made presentations for papers covering applications of HyperWorks within their CAE – Virtual Validation Process. The papers covered a range of application domains and were assigned to 7 different tracks viz. – FE Linear Solver/FEM, Radioss Linear/Non-Linear , Multi-Body Dynamics, Optimisation, CAE Process Automation & Data Mgmt and Sheet Metal Forming .
~20 papers were also presented in the Poster presentation category. The judges’ panel consisting of;

- Tata Motors – Automation of Pre & Post Processes in CAE durability using HyperWorks Process Manager
- Bajaj Auto – Establishing Durability Analysis Process using Altair Durability Director
4. The Best Paper Awards in the Radioss Non-Linear Solver category were presented to:
- Naval Science and Technology Laboratory - Damage estimation of floating structure in water due to under water explosion
- Hindalco Industries Ltd - Hindalco Models the Hot Rolling Process of Aluminium Alloys Using RADIOSS
- Piaggio - Frontal Impact Analysis of Light Commercial Vehicle as per AIS-029
5. The Best Paper Awards in the Radioss Linear Solver category were presented to:
- Maruti Suzuki India Limited - Reduction of Cabin Noise –An Integrated Approach of Physical and CAE Techniques
6. The Best Paper Awards in the Multi-body Dyanamics category were presented to:
- Voltas Limited - Simulation and analysis of synchronisation and engagement on transmission gearbox
7. The Best Paper Awards in the Sheet Metal Forming category were presented to:
- Tube Investments of India Ltd - Finite element analysis and experimentation of external pin tube drawing operation
- Asia Motor Works - Multistage Forming Validation using Altair HyperForm
- Godrej & Boyce Mfg.Co.Ltd - Formability, web stretching analysis and feed level finalization in progressive tool for Filler Body SI Inner Panel using Hyperform
The top three Poster Awards selected via audience polling were presented to:
