King Louis the XIV, who enlarged the castle and moved the court and
the government
permanently in Versailles. With the reign of Louis XV
around 100 years later, Versailles grew even further. During that
time Versailles was
the capital of the most powerful kingdom in Europe, and
the whole of Europe admired the new architecture and design trends
coming from Versailles.
Today Versailles is a wealthy suburb of Paris and remains an important
administrative and judicial center.
