Improved Development Approach Using Fast Concept Modeling
and Optimization

In order to accelerate the development process and improve
the product quality vehicle concepts need to
be assessed in an early development stage by upfront CAE.
This paper describes
a new approach in fast conceptual modeling
using the CATIA Add-On “Fast Concept Modeler” in
combination with an automatic CAE based optimization loop
based on optimization
of a bumper system in terms of low speed impact.
The process and its advantages and disadvantages will be discussed
in
detail as well as its ability to accelerate
the development process,
