Modeling of Laminated Glass for Safety Simulation in RADIOSS
Mark Gevers, Tecosim, Robert Schilling, FORD Werke

Laminated glass is used in automotive industry for windscreens
and panorama roofs for example. The performance and the predictive
modeling of these components are important for safety CAE
analyses. There do exist worldwide several safety requirements
(legal and public domain e.g. Euro NCAP) which address pedestrian
protection or rollover protection (e.g. static roof crush
requirement). Based on component and sub-system tests a Radioss
model using layered shells or sandwich shells has been developed
which shows an improved predictability with regard to glass
failure of laminated glass.
