Optimization of Brakes Systems
Dr. Ronaldo F. Nunes, Daimler AG
This paper presents the post-processing capability implemented
in HyperWorks tool in order to address the
automotive brake squeal problem.
Based on traditional and favourite approach
by the automotive industry, i.e., complex
eigenvalue analysis, the main focus is to give more possibility
to understand
the
squeal problem complexity.
The main idea is to cover the acoustic behaviour behind the
critical squeal frequency. In this regard, the acoustic intensity,
the input power and the acoustic intensity flow will be introduced
and applied to a numerical example. Finally, the main issues
to be concerned in this application will be discussed with
advantages and disadvantages of the proposed post-processing
tool.
