CAE Driven Design of Forging Presses
Heiko Baum, Fluidon
Production machines, such as forging presses, are large mechatronical
systems that are characterized through complex interactions
between the single subsystems. Within the combined project "Fluidtronic",
which is sponsored by the Federal Ministry
of education and research, an adapted development environment
for such machines
was designed.
A PLM concept handles the primary data and
information handling as well as the integration
of the simulation tools. The networking of
the simulation tools involved forms
the core of the CAE-supported development process.
In connection with this the hydraulic actuator
in DSHplus and the mechanics
in MotionView represent the virtual machine,
that in turn is connected to development programmes
for the machine control
via an OPC interface. Through this it is possible
for the design engineer to carry out complex
simulation supported calculations to analyse
the effects of different
system configurations.
