3D Fabric Modelling with HyperWorks for Impact Field
Karine Thoral Pierre, Cedrem
Numerical simulation of 2D fabric and 3D woven fabric using
finite element code, RADIOSS describe the mechanism
of deformation, interactions, energy absorption and damage
during the impact.The
focus of this paper is to present the tool
developped in hypermesh to simulate a meso scale finite element
modelling of textiles.
Several models of textiles structures (geometry
and meshing) are described in this study. Yarns modeled using
thick shell
and thin shell are used to simulate damage
under FSP around the impact zone. Results of several tests
and simulations are
compared to evaluate this approach.
