A methodology for sizing pedestrian protection absorbers
in sub-systems
Issmaïl Meskin, Valeo
Using a model of pedestrian impact (lower leg) previously
correlated, it was possible to reduce
development time for new types of energy absorbers.
The method consists of replacing the leg EEVC
WG17 impactor by a rigid cylinder in order
to
find the perceived forces by the absorbers.
These forces are the parameters for sub-system
sizing. They have enabled the design of new
absorbers with results
comparable to those
of
the starting model.
