Non Conventional Metalforming Process Automation
Teresa Primo, University of Salento & Antonio
Caruso, AgustaWestland
The cooperation, between University of Salento and AgustaWestland,
by a Project Research has lead in the development of a new
methodology for the definition and optimization of the metal
forming technology for aerospace components based on extensive
numerical simulations.
A software application developed, Metal Forming Manager (MFM),
will be released to AgustaWestland and it is an application
intended to guide CAE analysts to design, manage and review
forming processes for all products made by AgustaWestland,
throughout the Products Life Cycle. Process designers should
answer to the following questions: How many stages the overall
process is made by? Which type of operation is performed in
each stage? What is the product shape of each stage? A properly
customized tool based on the well known HyperWorks technology
has been developed to give the right answers.
Agusta MFM will store and organize all data by using ADM
(Altair Data Manager) platform. ADM PNT (Project Navigation
Tool) structure will model Product Life Cycle, while multistage
process will be modelled by defining simulation project types,
one for each available stage type.
In order to let user define a multistage process related
to a specified PNT node, an ADM module will be developed,
called MFM module.
