CFD Analysis and Optimization of an Exhaust Component Using HyperWorks and its Partner Solutions

Eric Hansenne, BOSAL Research

Current economical crisis results in more pressure to reduce rapidly development costs, especially in automotive industry. On the other hand, expectations for better environmental efficiency of new cars generation keep industry under pressure, too. This situation forces companies to develop original solutions in a very effective way with a minimum cost. Finding right solution at the first time is therefore critical.

In this context, virtual development has never been so crucial. Development of cost-effective optimization techniques is one of the key features for future business. BOSAL Research is specialized in development of exhaust systems and heat exchangers for automotive and industrial applications. Development processes systematically include complex numerical simulations in acoustics, flow and structural fields.

The Altair Partner program is a good example of solution Bosal has analyzed and used to evaluate optimum development of complex product with a minimum investment.

Bosal presentation will illustrate how Altair & partner products have been used to optimize Close Coupled manifold regarding flow. Bosal vision about software’s integration will also be briefly discussed.
