The aim of the proposed presentation is to illustrate a sequential optimization process based on topology, shape and freeshape techniques. Applied on complex engine parts such as cylinder-blocks and oil pans, it ensures the generation of new lighten concepts while guaranteeing up to standard mechanical behavior, taking into account multiple criteria such as bore deformation, stress/fatigue limits or NVH targets.
