High Speed Impact on Armour Plate: Methodology and Correlation with Tests Karine Thoral Pierre, CEDREM The aim of this presentation is to show and compare some of the techniques used to simulate very high velocity projectile impact on protection plates. The chosen case concerns a 20mm diameter projectile impacting the center of 200x200mm aluminum plates of different thicknesses. In this presentation, we won’t be detailing the material parameters which obviously influence the sample plate behavior (such as Young modulus, yield stress, etc…). The objective is to fix the material laws and highlight the influence of modeling parameters, such as meshing size, formulation, interfaces, etc, on the results.
